Otoño Tropical (I)

Posted by
Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 24 February 2014 in Plant & Nature.

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons, I love to see the change of color in different groups of trees in a landscape, and the gradual and nostalgic process of change turns me into a reflective state of mind.

I currently live in Panama City, a city with a tropical climate. At the tropics, temperatures don't vary much year round. However, precipitation does vary greatly and we don't experience the change of seasons as countries in the temperate zones of the world.

We are currently in the dry season in Panama and it is common to see some trees changing the color of their leaves and also some leaves falling. Near my house there are many trees currently adapting to the high temperatures; that process makes me feel as if we were experiencing a "tropical autumn."
