Social Unrest

Posted by Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 28 October 2010 in Documentary & Street.

Yesterday a group of students of the school Profesional Isabel Herrera Obaldía closed Vía Israel.

I live nearby and went to shoot some photos but I didn't stay long because they started shouting at me to "stop taking photos" (in spanish), after I left the place they turned violent and ended up vandalizing and throwing objects to the police, media, drivers and other students from their school.

They were demanding the payment of a scholarship granted by the Ministry of Education, the irony is that those involved in the riots don't qualify to this scholarship because they don't have good grades.
