The Framed City
Posted by Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 5 September 2009 in Cityscape & Urban.
I recommend checking the work of Julio Zadik, an important exponent of modern photography in Guatemala and Central America.
If you are staying in Guatemala, you would probably like to visit an exhibition with a selection of Julio Zadik's photographs at the gallery Sol del Río Arte Contemporánea in Guatemala City, until September 19th.
If you visit Antigua, there is an exhibition of Zadik's work held at the Antiguo Colegio de la Compañía de Jesús, 6ª avenida norte, until September 13th.
September is the month dedicated to photography in Guatemala, this year they have the 7th edition of Foto>30, with many exhibitions, lectures and events scheduled for the whole month, don't miss it if you are visiting Guatemala.
There's also a photography contest called Chirmolcity, organized by Urbanística Taller del Espacio Público, you can read more information and download the requirements of the contest from Foto>30 Convocatorias or from the website of Muniguate. The deadline for submissions has been extended until September 25th.
Have a great weekend!
