Tokyo Tower is a 332.6 m (1,091 ft) tower located in Shiba Park, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Its design is based on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. It is 8.6 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower (32.6 if the tower's TV antenna is included), and only weighs 4,000 tons compared to 7,300 tons of the Eiffel Tower.

A nice capture of it. What do you think of it as a landmark?

@Daroru: Thank you Daroru! As a landmark I think it gives some sense of identity, something familiar for people to relate to. For one class of urbanism I processed a photo with Tokyo tower in order to compare the same scene with and without its presence, probably we got used to it as an element that somehow gives a foreign character to the city, I felt a void, something empty without it. We see it now as part of the city, integrated to it, but looking at it in context during the time of completion it might have been seen as a strange element, an alien for some and something marvelous for others, regardless of the differences it was accepted. We have to understand that its design, based on the Eiffel tower was an attempt to symbolize how Japan raised as a global economic powerhouse, a search for a contemporary identity. It will be interesting to analyze this phenomena when the New Tokyo Tower is completed, what reactions will be born in the hearts of people?
incredible capture of the tower! It's been such a long time since I've been to Roppongi... *sigh* I went to Kansai this past break, so I think it's about time I went to Tokyo again. It's been almost two years already. :(
