At the Gates of Knowledge

Posted by Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 22 March 2008 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Detail of the door of the Yushima Seidō. The Yushima Seidō was constructed as a Confucian temple in the Genroku era of the Edo period, it was originally a private Confucian temple, the Sensei-den. In 1690, the fifth Tokugawa shogun, Tsunayoshi, moved the building to its present site. The Hayashi school of Confucianism moved at the same time.
