Menina

Posted by Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 6 March 2008 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

Yesterday I assisted to the 18th Annual Art of Dining charity exhibition organized by Refugees International Japan. This arrangement titled Medianoche en el Prado, was one of my favorites because of the combination of delicate details, the classic or antique feeling of the design and its warm tones, although my usual tendency is towards contemporary design.
The main subject of this photo is a Lladró Re-deco 'Menina', inspired by the 17th century masterpiece 'Las Meninas' by Diego Velázquez. First I had focused on details of the Menina, but for the last photo I decided to try a point of view where I could capture it almost complete. Please notice the Museo del Prado book at the bottom, featuring the portrait of Sebastián de Morra by Diego Velásquez.
