Sapporo Snow Festival

Posted by Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 7 February 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture.

The Sapporo Snow Festival is a famous festival held annually in Sapporo, over seven days in February. The 2008 festival is currently being held, it began on February 5th and will end on February 11th.
My father, brother and I traveled to Sapporo with the purpose of enjoying this festival. It was great watching some of the snow sculptures during the night of the day of our arrival.
I wish I could have seen more of the city and event itself, but it happens that I got sick and had to spend most of the time in the hotel, =(.
This is one of the photos I shot that night. I was interested in capturing the relation and interaction of people in the place, the scale of the sculptures, the overall mood of the place.
The snow sculpture you can see in this photo is a depiction of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. You can also see the Sapporo TV Tower, to the left.
