Cicada Shell

Posted by Alfredo J. Martiz J. (Panama City, Panama) on 3 August 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

It took me a while to find out what was this insect, today I was searching for some information about cicadas and then saw a photo of a shell similar to this, this photo was shot last year during the summer period so I believe it is a Cicada Shell, this abandoned skin is what remains after they emerge as adults.
I thought I only had a photo of a dead cicada and the funny story is that three days ago I wanted to make photos of cicadas when I was going to the University; I couldn't because one "Kamikaze Semi" (Semi is the japanese word for Cicada) came from my right side straight to my right eye, haha, nothing bad happened to me, it hurt a bit in the beginning but nothing to worry (I hope), anyway, I could not make a photo of them and I will try another time, =)
