If someone knows the scientific name of this insect please let me know, I was searching and I think it is from the order Othoptera, family Acrididae!
I Received an email from someone who says that 'It looks like a species of Taenipoda, perhaps T. eques, which belongs to the family Romaleidae, closely related to Acrididae and sometimes included as a subfamily (Romaleinae) within it.' Thank you! Therefore I changed the title of the photo, but left the first lines of description so you can read what species I thought it was!
Photo from the year 2005, Panama.

simply beautiful, love the beating of the grasshopper's wings, and the way in which you captured it. Very very nice work! Nathalie dice: "ay mamá! un grasshopper! Q' bonito!" y fue a traer a su abuela para que también lo viera. =)

WOW!!! I am a big insect lover...but I have never been able to capture anything like this. The detail is amazing, and I feel like I can almost feel the texture of the exoskeleton. Were you using a macro lens??
