Coalescence is a term used in welding. Two or more pieces of metal are bonded together by liquifying the spots of interest, then these liquids are coalesced and allowed to solidify. As a result of this process, two pieces of metal have become one continous solid.

Hello fred! This pic reminds me of good things and bad things. As you said in your explanation, it's a bond... welding two pieces of metal, but the first thing that came into my mind when I saw it was bonding of lives, even before I saw your explanation. Looks like two rings, and the following statement just popped out: "hasta que la muerte los separe". I think it's a great pic with colors and all. You can have a clear view of small pieces of white cover falling off and rust all over.
